South Africa… velvety red wine wonderland

One of the most beautiful and important wine regions in the world (export in 2018/ 2019, 414.6 million liters) is undoubtedly South Africa - a superlative in every respect.

As a person from central Europe one is just overwhelmed, even after 10 years of visiting, by the power of exuberantly growing nature on the intense red clay soils, the wonderful climate with the omnipresent cooling breeze, thanks to the Benguela Current coming out of Antarctica, in the coastal regions of the Western Cape.
The golden light that vanishes evening after evening in indescribable sunsets, the friendliness of the people, that you can find everywhere and the high quality of produced food and wine ..

Wine is an incredibly important topic in the Western Cape. In its production and the tourism what comes with it, it offers more than 300,000 people work and prospects. In the years between 2011 and 2019 I noticed an incredibly positive development of the philosophy of life in younger generations, in their ideas and visions for a viable future in South Africa.
So you can find a strong positive energy alongside the, of course, many serious political problems that people in the country are confronted with on a daily basis. But the development for the better is visible. My hopes for this country are high .
